Oh Little Twig

Oh little twig

Not the trunk

Not the fruit

Nor the blossom

But bridge between what is

Messenger between these three

By winds and storms shaken

Not deterred

Inspiration to my soul

Snapped and broken

Medicine to my body

Sassafras brewing in my mother’s kitchen

Fragrant aroma permeating the air

Memories in my heart

Crunching in the forest beneath my feet

Reminiscent of a past incarnation

Cushion to my weary feet

Oh little twig

As above, so below

Let me learn your lesson

This is a poem written as an assignment for a writing group I’m in.  I’m thankful for the person heading the group, Mariana, who inspires us to reflect in these ways.
